Painting a Quilt-able Sky with Nancy Hersberger

When making a landscape art quilt, the sky plays a big role in the piece. It might be ‘just the background,’ but the sky sets the scene and creates the mood. Sometimes commercial prints just don’t work. About the Instructor: Nancy Hershberger is an Art Quilter and instructor who lives in rural Pennsylvania. She loves creating with fabric, thread with a little bit of inks, acrylics and oils, and has participated in numerous Artist–in-Residence programs through the National Park Service. “I started making traditional quilts, but the desire to create my own original designs soon took hold,“ shares Nancy. “My current body of work consists mostly of landscapes. Like the paintings they resemble, my art quilts contain ink and paint in addition to fabric, but they are, first and foremost quilts.” Visit Nancy's website »
