Stitch Our Harvest Basket Block | October 16 – December 15

The 2017 Harvest Basket block by Artistic Artifacts for The Wooly Block AdventureThe theme for this year’s Wooly Block Adventure is Harvest Baskets. Simply visit participating Wooly Block Adventure™ stores from October 16 - December 15 to receive a free pattern for a unique 8-inch wool appliqué block!

But wait... visiting the shop is not the only way to receive a shop’s Wooly Block pattern. Patterns and kits may be purchased online during the eventpurchase those from Artistic Artifacts now! You do not need to be near participating shops to have fun and collect with this year’s edition of The Wooly Block Adventure, which is bought to you by the same fiber friends as The Row by Row Experience. You also have the opportunity to download patterns for FREE from the Wooly Block Adventure Spotlight Shops (see more below).

Our Wooly Block Adventure kits are available in either teal or terra cotta (the wool background square) and include a plaid wool strip for the basket, 3 colors of wool squares for your flowers, and three coordinating spools of WonderFil Specialty Threads Eleganza from the Sue Spargo Collection as well as complete instructions and pattern for your Harvest Basket. (The pattern alone is also sold separately.)

Chris Vinh of StitchesnQuilts designed and stitched the beautiful block, pictured here, which inspired our pattern. Chris used supplies that included Sue Spargo Hand Dyed Wool, and she stamped a stitching design using one of our wooden printing blocks. The final touch to her appliqué block are beautiful embroidery stitches using a variety of WonderFil Specialty Threads.

Collect and Stitch to Win

NEW! Collect all Wooly Block patterns for free! Every participating Wooly Block Adventure shop (including us!) will be featured for a few days on the Row by Row Experience website as a Spotlight Shop. During this featured time, their Wooly Block Adventure pattern will be available to you as a free download. Every participating shop will be featured, so keep checking back for new patterns!

Create a project of your choice using at least eight different patterns from participating Wooly Block Adventure Fall 2017 stores (download a list of all shops). If you are the first to bring your completed project into a participating shop, you win a prize of a wool fat quarter and a $25 gift certificate. Participants have between December 16, 2017 and February 15, 2018 to claim their prize.

After December 15, the Wooly patterns go into hibernation to allow those who collected patterns to complete a project. After February 15, stores may choose to offer patterns and kits again.

Remember, there are three ways to collect the kits and patterns from participating shops across the US and Canada

  1. Visit any participating shop this fall between October 16 and December 15, 2017 to receive one pattern, at no charge, of their 8” wool applique’ block.
  2. Each shop will be listed for at least two days as a “Spotlight Shop” on the Row by Row website. The patterns from Spotlight Shops can be downloaded for free during their featured time.
  3. Shops are offering patterns and kits for purchase during the entire event.

     •  Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (Thursday evenings until 8:00 pm)

Directions to Artistic Artifacts

Take the Washington Beltway to exit 174, Eisenhower Avenue Connector. After exiting onto the ramp and merging onto the Connector, you will come to the intersection: take a left onto Eisenhower Avenue. 4750 Eisenhower Avenue is a red brick building approximately ¼ mile on the left, after the Fedex sign and before the condos — look for the Artistic Artifacts sign. The Van Dorn Street station, on the Blue Line, is located at 5690 Eisenhower Avenue, approximately 10 blocks (.720 miles) from Artistic Artifacts. A number of bus lines service Eisenhower Avenue: visit the WMATA website to learn more.
