The 2020 Artistic Artifacts True Blue Block in square format

The Row by Row Experience is now Quilters Trek, a color guided shopping adventure for quilters everywhere — the 2020 Quilters Trek color was True Blue!

Customers could visit us, or any participating quilt shop, from June 21 through September 8, 2020, to collect a free pattern for their own True Blue quilt. Free patterns are limited to one per person and are for in-person shoppers/walk-in (or curbside) customers only.

Artistic Artifacts is selling our 2020 True Blue fabric kit, which includes our pattern and cutting/ assembly instructions, giving you the fabric you need so you can complete our True Blue block. Due to the interest and concern about Covid-19 impacts, Quilters Trek has changed its rules so that fabric kits can be purchased online from participating shops once the event begins, so you won’t miss out if you can’t pay an in-store visit. No more waiting until winter for the embargo to be over!

We included our own Batik Tambal Exclusive Batik in the fabrics used for our house block design, which can be laid out in a square or horizontal format as shown here. Purchase a True Blue Quilters Trek kit and find a Quilters Trek fabric token inside the package (while supplies last). Each area has seven unique tokens to collect and trade!

Artistic Artifacts is a member of the Quilters Trek Churn Dash Explorers Facebook Group page. Shops love to be creative with the theme each year as they work it into their row, so visit the group to see the wide variety in how they designed their True Blue blocks. You can also follow Quilters Trek on Instagram.

The 2020 Artistic Artifacts Winners!

Each participating Quilter’s Trek store awards prizes to two different winners: a stash of 15 fat quarters — and both of our prizes were claimed! Congratulations to Kathy Mirabella and to Carlene Halsing.

The Quilter’s Trek Contest rules are simple: Complete a quilt using at least 32 nine-inch blocks from at least eight (8) participating shop (four blocks from each of the 8 shops). Quilts must be quilted, bound and labeled to be eligible to win. The first day to submit an eligible quilt winner was July 15, 202, and the last date to do so was October 15 to submit to shops that had not already awarded their prizes during the summer.

Each year you decide how to arrange your quilt. Stores create a design for a portion of a quilt (formerly a row) of four 9-inch blocks; they may create one block and repeat it 4 times or create 4 unique blocks. Our 2020 True Blue fabric kit will create our 9 in. finished blocks set in either a 9 in. x 36 in. row or an 18 in. square. Blocks can be all the the same or all different. When assembled the blocks can create either a 9 in. tall x 36 in. wide row or 18 in. square (finished measurements). You’ll find on your Trek that designs may be pieced, appliquéd, and more. Use your free block patterns to create rows, squares, or single blocks in your quilt projects!

True Blue Inspiration

Although the quilt shops are organized by area, quilters have no borders. Travel, shop, collect patterns and add rows to your quilt from anywhere! Remember that the patterns are offered at no cost, one per person, to in-store visitors during the event dates — please do not ask for extra copies or for individual patterns to be mailed or emailed. Due to Quilters Trek rules, we cannot honor any such requests.

We have really enjoyed our experience with this fun shop hop in the past...each year we meet new friends and customers from so many different states and even countries. We are lucky to be located so close to Washington, DC, a vacation destination for so many families, and appreciate how many people made plans to visit us — we hope to see you too!

Please contact us if you have any questions.
