DescriptionADVANCED CLASS: Colorful Eco-Printing on Silk with Dyann Alery Black
Friday, June 16, 2023
10:30 am – 4:30 pm, ½ hour lunch break
Prerequisite: prior attendance in Dyann’s Eco-Printed Silk Scarf class. Most Supplies Provided for this advanced class creating a one of a kind oversized silk scarf using the eco-printing method with botanical items you bring from your own garden (or your neighbor’s). This scarf is more of a challenge, as it will have a fold in it and the overall size is 22 in. x 72 in. — note the total number of students is limited due to space requirements. This class uses Alum Acetate as the mordant and iron water as a modifier. There will be many beautiful colors to choose from for the “base” color of your scarf. Your registration fee includes the $45 kit fee providing the large silk scarf, eucalyptus leaves of varying kinds, chemicals and other necessary supplies. Students are asked to bring plenty of botanical items for printing — download your supply list to view & print, which includes a list of botanical matter that prints well. Dyann notes, “We work quickly the first half of the class. This is to ensure that our scarves have enough time to ‘process’. During the processing time of 90 minutes, you are free to take lunch. Or use your class discount in the shop!”
