10:00 am-5:00 pm, 1 hour break for provided lunch
Create a fun fiber book, approximately 5 in. square, with 8 pages full of stitching and surface design! Block printing on textiles with carved wooden blocks is an ancient art, and in this class you will earn to block print using a wide variety of provided wooden printing blocks and Artistic Artifacts textile paints. Your class kit — a $20 cash fee paid directly to the instructor the morning of class — includes nearly everything you need: assorted fabrics for your page base and to embellish, Peltex, shells, and use of textile paints, wooden printing blocks and WonderFil Specialty Threads in class. Student Supply List: Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler, your own favorite hand-stitching threads, and any charms or trims that remind you of a visit to the ocean or beach.
About the Instructor: Judy Gula, owner of Artistic Artifacts, is the author of Colorful Batik Panel Quilts: 28 Quilting and Embellishing Inspirations from Around the World. Judy believes that to make art, you must live art. She finds inspiration in new and vintage materials, her interactions with other artists, and in surprising and unexpected experiences. Her goal is to share her love of art and in empowering people to create their own artwork, she finds her bliss. More about Judy »
