10:00 am-5:00 pm, 1 hour break for provided lunch
India is an inspiring land of incredible beauty and color. With the colors and sights of this luscious country as our inspiration, we will explore a wide variety of image transfer techniques while we create a richly decorated reference book to hold our experiments. We will learn multiple methods for transferring photos and other imagery on to fabric, paper and metal. Learn the ins and outs of ink jet printer inks and which products produce the results you are looking for. Create collages on each page of your sample book using your transferred images, paper, fabric and embellishments. Technique notes can be stored in pockets to make this book a valuable reference tool. Your class kit — a $30 cash fee paid directly to the instructor the morning of class — includes everything you need: Lutradur book pages, images prepared for transferring and products for all the transfer methods, fabrics, trims papers, trims, MistyFuse, glues and thread. Sewing machines* will be provided for use in this class for faster construction, but hand sewing is an option as well. Students may wish to bring the following optional items with them to class: India-inspired embellishments and ephemera such as jewelry and metal bits, trims, found objects, sari fabrics, rubber stamps etc.
