10:00 am-5:00 pm, 1 hour break for provided lunch

Class will take place in our warehouse area. Students will create a range of hand dyed fabrics in your choice of vibrant Procion MX dye colors as well as using an authentic indigo vat, resulting in amazing shades of blue — you will love these additions to your stash to use in your quilting, mixed media and art-to-war! We will explore shibori techniques such as arashi, ne-maki, itajime and kumo as well as creating Shibori Stitch Resists, which result in fabulous effects. Your registration (no additional fee required) provides a large assortment of fabrics, trims and doilies to dye and to stitch, and use of a premixed indigo dye vat, premixed Procion MX dyes and necessary auxiliaries, clamps, wooden and acrylic shapes, clothespins, etc. Your result will be a huge stash of beautiful, one of a kind textiles! Student Supply List Plan to wear old clothing that can withstand an accidental splash of dye! Bring gloves, apron, your favorite stitching needle and 12 wt. thread. You are welcome to bring your own prewashed (no fabric softeners) natural fiber fabric — cottons, silk, rayon — that has been prewashed. Judy will have an array of specialty fabric for purchase if desired.
