Most Supplies Provided! Block printing on textiles with carved wooden blocks is an ancient art — one of the earliest methods of surface design! Learn to block print using Artistic Artifacts textile paints with a wide variety of provided wooden printing blocks — including a new limited edition set of hand-carved blocks inspired by the Kaffe Fassett Collective! Judy will show you simple hand embroidery techniques as well as demonstrate free motion thread sketching using the new Kaffe Edition BERNINA machines — embellish your favorite block print(s) with one or the other — or both! (Those who choose not to stitch may spend remaining class time block printing their own fabrics brought from home.) $55 registration cost includes the use of textile paints, wooden printing blocks, and threads (machine and embroidery). All students will receive a small wooden printing block and foam mat to keep plus a yard of white fabric to print.
Optional student supply list: a variety of solid, hand-dyed and batik fabric and papers to print; your favorite hand-stitching needles; hand stitching floss, threads, etc. to supplement the materials provided for your use.
