Artistic Artifacts is thrilled to be a stop on Kaffe Fassett’s Quilts in Wales Tour 2022! Featured in Kaffe Fassett’s Quilts in Wales, Bubbly uses a traditional round the world quilt structure to create a shaded and blended study in a predominant color. Positioning squares on point makes the fabrics blend more subtly than straight on squares. Kaffe and Brandon will spend the majority of class time teaching about the selection and arrangement of fabrics, working to develop each participant’s own personal sense of color that will then help them make their own original designs. When choosing fabrics for your Bubbly quilt project, find your color and don’t stray too far from it — keep your choices harmonious. For instance, if you would like to explore RED, bring reds, oranges, reddish purples, magenta, warm brown etc. Student Supply List: In addition to a pad and pen for note-taking, please bring your rotary cutter, cutting mat, cutting ruler and a wide variety of fabrics: at least 1/4 to full yard pieces of 20 different medium-scale prints that are harmonious together. The prints you choose should vary in tone and pattern. They might be all light and dark or mostly a color you prefer such as blues, reds, pastels or a dark palette. For example: a cool bluish palette including purples, turquoise, cobalt and cold greens... or explore warm Autumn shades! The prints can be multicolored as long as they relate to your preferred color. View our Kaffe Fassett fabrics. If you are not sure of your selections, bring more fabric to class rather than less. It’s much easier to have more fabrics to play with and to be able to eliminate, rather than not have enough. Kaffe and Brandon will help participants shop during the class, so be prepared to experiment and maybe purchase new fabrics to add!
Your registration fee includes:
• 2-yard cut of Kaffe Fassett’s Flannel Grid Wall
• $25 Artistic Artifacts Gift Card (valid day of workshop only)
•10% off your day of workshop’s in-store purchases
• box lunch and snacks
Suitable for the beginner (must have rotary cutting skills) to advanced quilt maker — the only requirement is an eagerness to explore color! No sewing takes place during the class, so no sewing machines are needed.
