Most Supplies Provided! Create a beautiful silk scarf using this printing method with natural flowers, leaves, stems and vines. Students will be using “iron water” as the modifier, white vinegar, flowers, leaves, vines, stems and Alum Acetate as the mordant. The final outcome is a soft, muted color-scape scarf which makes a lovely accessory to any ensemble! Your registration fee of $120 includes the $30 kit fee, which provides sampler pieces of silk, an 8 in. x 72 in. silk scarf and all the supplies needed to create your eco-prints. Each student is asked to bring an “iron blanket” — this is a prewashed white or ivory piece of cotton fabric (an old sheet works great) approximately 9 in. x 75 in. (download your student supply list for details). If you have access to flowers and leaves that can be harvested that morning and brought to class, please do so. Variety is a wonderful thing! A list of botanical matter that prints well is on your supply list.
