Vintage Spin Quilt with Dudley Shugart
Friday, January 11, 2019
10:00 am – 2:30 pm, ½ hour lunch break
Dudley’s display quilt in the shop has garnered raves! From the Adding Layers: Color, Design & Imagination by Kathy Doughty
(purchase required for class), the techniques to make this excitings one-block quilt will taught, as well as suggestions on how to select fabrics to make your individual blocks interesting before combining the blocks. You will leave class with all the skills necessary to complete your Vintage Spin
quilt at home! In addition to the book, students will need the following fabrics to complete their quilt: 1 yard for center circles and binding; 1/3 yard each of 30 light fabrics and 1/3 yard each of 30 dark fabrics. Due to the length of this class, only one to three blocks will be completed in class so all 30 fabrics are not necessary, but please bring at least five (5) light and five (5) dark to class. Students are also required to bring their sewing machine (in good working order with all necessary cords and attachments), rulers (one 6 in. x 24 in. and one 8 in. x 8 in. square; or if you don’t have those exact measurements, rulers that are close), rotary cutter, rotary cutting mat and basic sewing supplies. Note:
students are expected to have basic sewing skills and knowledge of their sewing machine: this is not
an introduction to sewing or a beginning sewing class. Email us
if you have questions about this class.
