Australian Aboriginal fabric, Ladies Collecting Wild Fruits Black by Jocelyn Bird
Priced and sold per 1/2 yard. Ladies Collecting Wild Fruits Black by Jocelyn Bird, 100% cotton, 44/45 inches wide. Aborigine women collect seeds to make damper (bread). In this fabric translated from her art, Jocelyn Bird used small concentric round shapes to represent the fruits of the mulga (Acacia aneura) tree. These seeds are smashed manually and used in dough for damper. The home-made tucker (tucker means food) are tasty as well as healthy. The wonderful hues and dynamic, organic shapes make this multi-colored Aboriginal designed fabric ideal for quilting, home decor and wearable art. M&S Textiles Australia was established to promote Aboriginal designs to the quilting community. The company pays each Aborigine artist a fair market wage and licenses these original indigenous art designs, guaranteeing authenticity.
