Traditional Handmade Copper Tjap. Dimensions: 13 in. x 10 in. plus handle (2 pieces — main bird figure and separate curved tail plume). Our tjaps (pronounced chops, also known as stamps or caps) were once used to produce beautiful batik fabrics and have since been retired from production. While designed to stamp wax patterns into fabric, tjaps are also useful to fiber and mixed media artists for creating rubbings with Paintstiks
, and appeal to collectors to display for their sculptural quality. Note: these tools are only available in very limited quantities and, once sold, are likely not available for reorder. Our vintage/traditional tjaps were once working tools and varying degrees of imperfections from that use and their age are to be expected.
