In his lectures and workshops, Kaffe Fassett reveals how he experiences the colors and basic shapes around him, how we can train our own eyes to see this rewarding source of creativity and how we can, just as he does, combine striking fabrics with simple shapes to create our own spectacular quilt designs!

Our event hotel, the Hilton Alexandria Old Town, is located on King Street in Alexandria’s vibrant Old Town. The site of Kaffe’s Lecture at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial (a National Historic Landmark), and the King Street Metro Station are both located across the street. The free King Street Trolley stops at the Hilton, and the hotel has rental bikes available to help you explore the neighborhood. Enjoy all-day dining at King Street Tavern and the hotel’s in-house Starbucks.

NOTE: Limited to 20 students each, our two in-person Kaffe and Brandon-led classes are focused on color theory, design and cutting only; no sewing will take place. Due to the class size and design wall space requirements for each student, our Bubbly and Mediterranean Hexagons classes must take place in our second floor classroom (stair access ONLY). Classes will begin promptly; attendees must plan to arrive at Artistic Artifacts a minimum of 15 minutes prior to the start of the session.

During these uncertain COVID-19 times, and since these events mean close contact, we must state our priority of keeping Kaffe and Brandon safe and healthy. COVID-19 outbreaks can change often and quickly depending on local conditions. It’s important we all stay aware and committed to instituting safety measures if need be. The most detailed and organized plans may still need to be set aside when someone gets ill. Artistic Artifacts requests that you stay home if you or any of your travel companions:

    • Have signs or symptoms, are sick or think you have COVID-19
    • Are waiting for results of a COVID-19 test
    • Have been diagnosed with COVID-19
    • Have had close contact with someone with COVID-19 in the past five days and you're not up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines
    • If you’ve had close contact with someone with COVID-19, get tested after at least five days. Wait to travel until you have a negative test. Wear a mask if you travel up to 10 days after you've had close contact with someone with COVID-19.
