Create and Tour with Judy!
Artistic Artifacts owner Judy Gula works with Italian Cultural Tours to create a spectacular week of creative classes, tours, wonderful cuisine and more in Ischia di Castro (pictured here), located approximately 55 miles (90 kilometers) northwest of Rome in the northernmost area of Lazio. Her inaugural trip took place July 1 - July 7, 2019.
The 2020 Italian Creative Retreat will take place in September and will focus on stitching — Judy will be joined by Liz Kettle of Textile Evolution for this exciting trip! Email Italian Cultural Tours to learn more about traveling with us in 2020! Details will be posted here as they are finalized. (In other travel news, Judy will be leading a block printing tour in India in March 2020 too.)
Rich in history, Ischia di Castro is strategically located to many fascinating cities, historic archaeological sites such as the ancient Etruscan city of Castro, and bodies of water.
Participants on the 2019 trip enjoyed the following (cost was $2,200 — airfare not included):
- two meals a day
- accommodations in apartments in the city
- morning mixed media classes led by Judy Gula — all supplies provided!
- afternoon guided tours and sightseeing, including a special excursion to the town of Fabriano (pictured here), where beautiful paper is produced!
These Italian Creative Retreats are planned so that during morning sessions students learn new skills, hone old ones and more, while sampling a wide selection of products and techniques
The afternoons offer everyone the opportunity to explore the unusual, authentic, medieval Italian countryside including spas, lakes, catacombs, beaches — all while sampling the best authentic, locally grown and prepared Italian foods and wines.
Email Lewis Gautieri, Travel Consultant for complete information and personalized attention, including customized tours, spouse activities, extended stay options and more. Plan to book a few extra days before or after the retreat dates to explore additional attractions such as Rome, Florence and more!
