Artistic Artifacts/Batik Tambal is proud to offer a wide selection of tjaps (pronounced “chops”), the handmade copper tools used by batik artists to stamp hot wax patterns onto the fabric. Choose from antique/vintage tjaps (one of a kind treasures retired from production and collected for us) as well as new tjaps, painstakingly handcrafted for us by artisans in Indonesia using centuries-old techniques.
Please note that while most of the Batik Tambal products (tjaps, batik panels, etc.) are made by hand and thus individually unique, the vintage tjaps we offer here are always one-of-a-kind — once sold, they cannot be reordered. All orders are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and we ask for your patience as we update our websites. If the vintage tjap you ordered is no longer available, we will contact you to provide you with images of similar ones, if at all possible, that may interest you as a replacement.
