Have you had the opportunity to visit the Artistic Artifacts website recently? We are completing a redesign that brings you a bright new home page and navigation for ease in shopping. We will continue to update new products and images and post updated information and resources for fiber and mixed media artists.

Handpainted Fibers and Textiles from Tentakulum

Artistic Artifacts has long carried gorgeous products from Germany’s Tentakulum Manufaktur, famous for their handpainted fibers, and with our new web redesign, they are now even easier to find! Items that make up Tentakulum’s Painters Threads Collection are named for famous painters — Gauguin, Picasso, Frida and more — who inspired the vibrant, saturated colors through their general palette (or a specific painting).

Artwork by Kathlyn James Avila

The beautiful work shown here was created by Kathlyn James Avila, an Alexandria based folk artist, who began with a Painter's Potpourri packet from Tentakulum. The silk, cotton, and rayon and Vilene (similar to Lutradur) materials included in each packets are all unique because the space dye color process reveals itself differently depending on the material. All Tentakulum products work with one another to produce a richly colored surface for any type of textile work — fiber and mixed media artists can vary color and texture while working in a cohesive color palette, or combine two or more collections or products and count on beautiful results.

Other products in the Tentakulum Painters Threads Collection collection are 100% Silk Hankies and Hand Dyed 100% Rayon Gimp.
