You’re Invited: Arts & Old Lace Art Quilt Exhibit Opening Saturday

Susan Price Arts & Old Lace quilt excerpt

We’d like to invite you to Artistic Artifacts Annex, Alexandria, Virginia for the debut of our Arts & Old Lace Art Quilt Challenge Exhibit! The complimentary Opening Artist’s Reception is Saturday, July 21, (visit anytime from 2:00–8:00 pm) and is open to all — please plan to join us! You’ll see wonderful displays of family memories, vintage portraits, plays on words, traditional techniques, modern and abstract works... As we’ve previously mentioned, all of the quilts are kept under wraps until the reception, so you’ll have to attend to view the more than 80 beauties that will be hanging, but here’s a tiny taste, courtesy of Susan Price from her blog. Please join us for the complete unveiling of all! (The exhibit also will be available for viewing during regular shop hours until September 30.)

New & Sale Products

Just Arrived — Shipment from Indonesia!

As you can imagine, we’re scrambling to prepare for the Arts and Old Lace exhibit and reception...only to be surprised by the early arrival of a shipment from Indonesia of Batik Tambal tjaps, including two new designs (quickly previewed this morning on Facebook) and handcrafted batik panels! We’ll have full details and website updates soon as we unpack and inventory!
This latest shipment was hot on the heels of the recent arrival of our new Combanasi fabric, in even more colors and patterns...and while the websites have been updated, rest assured photographs cannot do this gorgeous fabric justice!

New in the Artistic Artifacts shop, lace tapeNew! Lace Tape

Celebrating our new Arts & Old Lace exhibit, here’s some new lace available to everyone: lace washi tape! Available in a variety of designs and in white, cream or black, this beautiful adhesive trim is ideal for scrapbooks or any kind of mixed media.

Staz-On Metallic Inkpad Sale

Our online sale section has several featured items, including postcard rubber stamps — perfect for use in our Creating Fabric Postcards workshop on September 18 and repeated on November 17. The shiny metallic shades of Staz-On Inkpads are now available for 25% off — and for our enewsletter readers (and purchases in the store), we are discounting the Platinum shade even more: we will charge you just $9.00 as we process your payment (note that this figure will not show in your basket as you checkout but will be reflected on your shipping receipt).

Come Play With Us — Bring a Friend & Receive a $10 Gift Card!

We’ve got a wide variety of workshops — fun and creative fiber, mixed media and jewelry classes — planned through the summer and into the fall. Through September 30, if you register for any of our workshops and recruit a friend to join you, you’ll receive a $10 gift certificate for use in our store! (One time use; the workshop must take place as scheduled and you must email us your name and your friend’s at the time of your registration.) And remember, ALL class participants receive a 10% discount off their store purchases during their class, so this is an extra savings! There’s still time to register, online or in person, for these Christmas in July classes with Diane Herbort:
